Greenwell Point Yakking

In a completely random and unorganised fish I had a great time. Found myself there visiting friends of the :wife: ... just looked like it would fish well so off to a local store for some bait and tackle (thankfully we had rods in the car).

Land based, caught a stack of little bream off a jetty. From memory, with dusk approaching and the tide running out moved to a different spot where it looked like I would cast to a bit of a drop off into deeper waters .. caught a very nice selection of flatties. We werent carrying any knives, esky, etc. so preferred to let them all go, but damn they looked tasty.

This was all near a caravan park / boat ramp, not sure if the only one in town.

I guess the oyster beds must holding a few bream?? Speaking of, the local oysters were good eating.

From what i have heard the flathead are off. Apparently they are still up in the far reaches of the river. They should be just starting to fire down there but as of last week it wasnt going so well.

Give the bream a crack on the Cullburra side or in behind Orient point. Or head up to the sunken wall near the ferry on the top of the tide.

How did you go down there, Damien?

Never having fished the area before, I am sure that Mr Genius has given you some excellent spots to fish - it would have taken him a little while to get the pic off Google Earth, then put all the spots in in different colours! Many thanks, MrGenius - that is showing True Raider spirit! I have taken note of it, for when I DO get down there!!

I can second that map. It is an excellent start. I have been fishing the area for 20 years or so.

Seems to fish a little better on the run out tide.

Fish the drop offs from the sand bar in front of Grenwell Point if you are out on the run in tide.
