Fishfinder

Hey Raiders,

I got a little issues which is a real pain. I have bought a boat which came with a fishfinder.

The fishfinder is a furuno not sure what model.

Since ive used it only shows depths of between 20 to 40 ft even if im in water like 5 ft deep.

Whats the go? is the fishfinder faulty or do settings need to be played with or something?

Cheers

Something similar happened to me:

I was surprised how good the sounder did work, even at 20knots, but then

when i passed over a obvious shallow place the sounder still showed 20M.

I Realised I had left the sounder on DEMO MODE ON !!!

Probably when selling the boat they demonstrated the FishFinder in DEMO MODE !!!!

On another instance the sounder showed me a school of fish, under the boat.

It resulted to be a swarm of Jelly Fishes. Had to set the sensitivity.

Hahaha yer it really gets on your nerves when you cant find structure and so forth or u think ur in 20ft of water and all off sudden you get a sand trail out the back....

I hope thats all it is..... ill have a play with it when i get home.

I'm no expert but a few things i've noticed are:

Might have the "Zoom" or "Bottom Zoom" or "Range" setting on. It doesn't sound like you have "Bottom Lock" on but maybe have a look through your settings. With some sounders if you hold down Power for an extended period (may only be a few seconds) to turn it on then it goes straight into demo mode. My old Hummingbird does this. With some other brands you set it to demo in the settings once its on.

Good Luck

If you're on land, it should not work. At least mine doesn't!

Try to find out what model it is

Pic search on google with keyword Forumo and then comparing picture. This might lead to the right model

And then search in google again with Forumo <model> and manual, and you might be able to find the manual.

good luck.
