prawn*
hay guys took the day off due to the heat... good enough excuse, being a family business can do so if we want on rare occasion.. headed to my favourite spot in port hacking for a flick around nothing no squid no yakka's on the bite 830am by now so decided to anchor up in south west arm and have a snorkel and check out the structure below us seen heaps of sea mullet everywere and so tame i could nearly touch them was a awsome sightafter no luck earlywith fishing decided to flick some hard body lures around as ive never done it before as im a fresh bait fisher, was getting bored with it with o results then out of no were the line tightens up and im on few small but fun run's i landed a tailor then seconds after i landed it there were hundreds jumping out chasing white bait so i got a couple lures and casted away landing about 12 nice tailor averaging about 34-40cm they decided to move away and leave us stranded but happy enough with enough fish to feed on for 3 guys we werent going to be greedy and chase them all down, we cooked up a couple on the bbq whilest sinking a couple of beers enjoying our fresh tailor for lunch i had some worms left and went back to bait 5 minutes later rod screems of i called it for a big tailor but surfaced a huge whiting went close to 50cm by our 500mm wide esky.. all in all had a good day on the hacking and what started out to be a very slow day produced some decent fish!! couldn be any happier to catch my first fish in hardbody lures on 6lb line, and new pb whiting!! padfoot
Comgrats om PB Whiting, it would be the largest I seen I think people refer to whiting that size as elbow slappers but that's more arm pit length. That's HUGE.

johnny doi
well done on the good catch, especially the whiting. i also fished sth west arm landbased with mate josh.we bush bash till we get right up in the last bay where all the skiers do their u turns.pretty quiet for us besides pinkies.there was heaps of bait around where we were that looked like some sort of pilly.josh caught 1 & sent it out live but no takers.i did hook & release a big sea turtle which went pretty hard,so that was a eye opener & first for me. where abouts were you anchored up if you dont mind me asking,& what time were the tailor on?we didnt see any surface action & we got the at 9am b4 high tide.did you see us in the rocks? cheers johnny. SILLY ME,YOU FISHED FRIDAY DIDNT YOU,NOT TODAY.oh well, geuss you definitely didnt see us.LOL. Edited November 21, 2009 by fisher doi
jewiehaven
I think people refer to whiting that size as elbow slappers but that's more arm pit length. That's HUGE. I think they call them "kidney slappers" when they reach that size. What a STONKER Whiting, and a great feed of Taylor to boot
