keenist
hey all, been looking around for an all-rounder light estuary rod to use with an ultegra 1000 and 4lb fireline, on bream, flatties etc but also strong enough to handle pelagics and school jew when they get in on the act. after a bit of looking i was thinking either a BD flatsranger 7'' 2-5kg or a millerods bream buster finesse 7'' 2-5kg. anyone have any [/i]first hand experience with either of these rods? or maybe some other suggestions? cheers
keenist
thanks for the feedback guys. think i''m leaning towards the miller BB finesse, although i won''t make a decision until i''ve had a feel of both. which brings me to the question of finding a BD flatsranger to play with - where can i find em? no stores seem to stock BD, is there a showroom or outlet or something? (richard?) swof: i''ve PM''d you my details. like i''ve said before, just give me a time - and we''ll get out. thanks for the offer. cheers alex
Billfish
Where''s the snide comment Iain? From what I saw, it was a tongue in cheek comment while at the same time trying respect the draconian rules regarding mentioning sponsors product! Ken A
Like the rules or not they are the rules of the site & will not be altered to suit the preferences of .4% of the members. If you guys find them so bad the best thing is not to visit this site. Sniping at me & my rules will only end in someone being banned.
Billfish
I don''t see where I was sniping at you Ken, I simply made a comment on what I thought re the rules. I completely understand the situation regarding hypelinks etc but I can''t get my head around why this only seems to apply to BD. I am not privy to behind the scenes happenings but I don''t see anywhere on the forums a ban on mentioning the likes of millerods (as in the case of BD). Is it a case of black balling BD thru sour grapes because they could not pay for advertising. If someone asks a question, as in this case, are we not allowed to answer it and express an opinion, or can only we answer it without mentioning any brand other than Shearwater? If you''re going to have a rule in place on banning the use of rod builders names (other than Allen of course) then there has to be an level playing field, one out all out. Similarly, maybe the same should apply to the likes of Berkley, Ecogear etc if they do not sponsor your site.
Ken A
Links in sigs apply to everyone not just BD sponsored guys. There are other people associated with different types of tackle & businesses who are under the same rule & have had links removed. They have copped it sweet . I don''t mind a sensible to answer to this or any other tackle question. If it gets to the stage that it is considered product pushing the post will edited or removed. I think it is possible to answer a request for info without blatant product promotion.
allen glover
There''s a simple solution to all this associate yourself with the site sponsor instead
Ken A
I sent a reply to you explaining as I said above. There has been a problem with PMs & it is being looked into now thats why you got a blank page. I don''''t mind a sensible to answer to this or any other tackle question. If it gets to the stage that it is considered product pushing the post will edited or removed. I am not going to keep this debate going its pointless the rules apply to all. The rules are clear & no one else seems to have a problem with them so like it or lump it the choice is yours. I tell ya, this is a good site but when someone cant even offer an opinion then it will all go to shit No one is stopping anyone from posting an opinion what I am stopping is the product pushing that I have seen happen on other sites. If you cannot post a response without making it into a BD rod advertisment then don''t post. If you don''t like the rules leave as the rules will be enforced & apply to all not just BD. Other sponsored anglers & businesses can cop the rules sweet why can''t you blokes. This is my final word on this matter.
Ken A
This rubbish has gone on long enough & for the last time I will say it Rules are remaining the same. If you don''t like them don''t come back. No one forces you to come here. I''m locking this post its going round in circles.
