Basil D Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 went out today with my son spinner7, our target was Bream, Only caught one and two tarwine. lots of undersized snapper went back, along with a few 20cm whiting. I was retrieving my line and ( Don't bag me on this) a greenish looking fish was chasing it in, seriously! it looked like a mahi with all its green colours, it was small possible 45cm. anyone else see anything like it? anyway packet up and left 1 pm and seen some Birds chasing what Else! Tailor, hooked up on four and made my day out worthwhile. The wind was absolutely howling and water was splashing over the boat, had it been my mold boat I would have been swimming in it. Guess who was sleeping again!!
Mondo Rock Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Good haul Groper. I'd guess that your 'green' follower fish was a frigate mackeral (if you're sure it wasn't a kingy or tailor).

Starman Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Def wasnt a kingy or tailor, lots of green and tail was a wide thin y shape Hi Basil, With all that rough water, it may have been a tailor or king who forgot to take his kwells Cheers, Starman, Gabe
Basil D Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Hi Basil, With all that rough water, it may have been a tailor or king who forgot to take his kwells Cheers, Starman, Gabe Ha Ha Ha, I still reckong is was a mahi, I looked up some photos on google and its exactly what I saw, small but def a mahi. Maybe a mahi on kwells
jewgaffer Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Basil I think this time the mahi mahi may have been a shovel nose squid that might have turned green with envy and decided to match what it saw peeing at it.... Cheers jewgaffer
Keflapod Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Basil, Jewgaffer is right - definately a shovel-nosed squid - or maybe it was weed standing still and it was your boat that was howling along with the wind. Actually, often, if you get the sun on a certain angle and it hits the fish through clean water, the hue reflected from the fish can often be green. Either that or it was spinach.....
Basil D Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 now way, A squid cant move that quick, and I know what I saw, fins tail n all, at worst I may agree with Mondo Basil I think this time the mahi mahi may have been a shovel nose squid that might have turned green with envy and decided to match what it saw peeing at it.... Cheers jewgaffer Then it should have been yellow or orange
