Day's Fishin Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 The old bull sharks are everywhere. They are the only shark that can live for a long time in fresh water and it doesn't have to be deep or clean. With the lack of rain the tidal rivers are getting saltier further up attracting more fish further inland which in turn attract the sharks. The bull shark goes that little bit further & in my opion is the worst man eater in our waters even worse than the great white as the bull is found where people paddle with kids & it will strike whether its hungry or not as they are extremely territorial & will kill anything that comes into its space. Regards Jeff
Golemfish Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 will kill anything that comes into its space. Regards Jeff Where did you get this information from. I can't remember seeing any reports of a bullshark attacking a human in Sydney waters.

gretsch Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 The last fatality in Sydney Harbour was by a Bull Shark in the 60s. It happened in waist deep water in Sugarloaf Bay up in Middle Harbour. Personally, I do not go in the water in the Harbour or Middle Harbour.
MaccaPoint Matty Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Golemfish, Not only was their a serious bull shark attack in Sydney Harbour early last year but check out the below link: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/gotc...0-1111118951246 I'm sure their will be even more bull sharks around this year with the number of bait fish in the harbour. The only swimming I'll be doing is in the backyard pool...!!
daleyboy Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I've always loved my old mans response when people ask him why he wont swim at the beach etc "Sharks dont swim in pubs so i dont swim in the ocean!"
suttonscurse Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Bugger the bull sharks - Last time I went prawning with a drag net a rather large octopus started to crawl up my leg - My mate was yelling at me not to drop my end of the net and let the prawns escape with no regards for the fact that the octopus was trying to hide inside my shorts. - Who needs an expensive squid jig??
