Mr Rob Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 A little late on this report but better late than never. About 2 months ago a mates father was down from Brisvegas and was keen for a kingy. As he had lent me his boat when I was up his way I was exited to put him on to his first king. The day couldn’t have gone better. Got the boys from the wharf then straight to the spit for squid. Out to Balmoral for yakkers then putted around MH with the riggers down. TOO EASY. As we rounded my favorite corner, up they come on the sounder. The rods start to quiver then the double hook up dance started on the back deck. Lots of groaning and frantic movement winding up the bombs. A shout of excitement then gaff time. I got the first one no probs but my mates dad has a go at a green ish king when the gaff comes out of his hand. I said good bye to that gaff but as the fish came back there it was hanging out of it. A missed attempt or 2 later we had our fish and a relived dad. No more fish but home in time for lunch. My mate and his dad were stoked, both fish nudged the meter in length and put up a good struggle. At home I was given praise and they can go home and brag how good we have it here in Sydney. I didn’t touch a line except for tying knots and baiting the hooks. I enjoy putting people on to the fish as much as I do catching them. (Well almost) As you may see it was raining cat n dogs but that dont put me off as i have caught most of my best fish in the rain
Basil D Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 like you said better late than never, two great king nudging the meter mark, thats awsome
plankton Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Nice Kings mate!!! I concur... dropping beurometric pressure before rain turns the big ones on!!
Mr Rob Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Solid kings there mate, well done. Looks like it was raining hard judging by the photo. Did the fish eat squid or the Yakkas you caught?? Cheers, Wacko. Wacko That day the yakkers did the job. As the water was a little dirty, I have a theory that the yakkers are easier to see for the fish.(flashy) The squid ended up stuffed and on the plate. (My little reward)
