davegroves68 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) Hi Raiders, Still in NZ but just got back to Dunedin at the new wife's parents after a top Honeymoon in Paihia, Bay of Islands. We were there for a week and the great girl that she is let me go on 3 charters. I started of with a short 4 hr snapper trip. Nothing amazing but we got a great feed and enough to bring back to the inlaws for xmas bbqs. We were bottom bashing over mud and gravel using pillies on standard pattenoster rigs.Got about 7 keepers ,all over 35cms. Next trip was a jigging and livebait session over to "The Hole in the Rock". It was a tough day and i lost a few jigs to Barracuda, so then stuck with live yakkas, but all i landed was a 70cm King. Limit there is 75cm, so it was released. Next trip was a guy recommended to me by fellow raiders...Big thanks! the man knows his stuff! We cleaned up! Went to one spot and stayed 4 hrs. I probably landed 20 kings all over 70cms but most under 75. Except a 90cm and the one that put a smile on my face and way too much lactic acid in my forearms I had finally broken the magic metre!!!. 1.07m Man am i stoked!! I have pictures but only limited access to a pc, so i will try to post pictures here or it will have to wait until i get back to Sydney. A very happy Welsh Dave.. Still not uploaded the really good ones yet. Watch this space, there is more to come. Edited December 22, 2009 by Welsh Dave
