aegan123 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Hi All Thinking of giving lake Lyell a go this afternoon. Just wondering if anyone has fished there recently, or at this time of year at all? Will there still be a chance of trout given the warm weather? I was also wondering when the trout start to move into the upper reaches to breed. Any information, recent results or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all and have a great New Years!
Matt Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Might be tough up there at the moment, Lyell is down around 33% and the water will heat up quickly through out the day. Early morning and after dark would be your best bet when the shallows are a bit cooler, or if you have a boat downrigging might be the way to go. The Trout won't move into the upper reaches to spawn until May. Hope that helps. Windy

No bites on the bait, two hits but no hookups on the celtas. Funny thing was that there were lots of rises in the shallows after the boats and wind died down, but not a single touch on our four lines. Keen to try again once the weather cools off. Thanks again.
