The Poacher
HI Raiders, Went out very early yesterday based on a pretty good weather forecast the night before. Turned out to be a sloppy mess on the ocean with a reasonably stiff breeze from 5 am. Anyway, got the yakkas and headed south. No kings on the chew, I think because the water was down to 19.3. Anyway, after a period of feeling sorry for myself ( after all the good reports in Sydney Harbour I thought I was going to clean up) we changed tactics and trolled diving minnows around for a few salmon and bonito. Maybe we will do better next time. No pictures, but I thought I would post the report in case anyone else stuggled as well. Regards, The Poacher

The Poacher
In a strange way Benyo, thats good to hear. I noticed on the BOM Oceanography, a tiny streak of cold water north of Sydney on the coast (18-19 degrees). Cant wait for it to move on. Will be watching it over the next few days. Gaffi
Hi Poacher, I took off at dawn 1st Jan from broken bay, based on a good forecast....very sloppy conditions. Had an uncomfortable trip South to Browns. No surface action and way too much current at Browns to get to the bottom. Worst day for a long time. In the end we were home early. One positive, on the way home had a huge school of what i think was bonito leaping out right near the boat. We were in about 150m, water was about 23.5c. I threw the skirts out (typically, had just pulled them in)... no luck. Cheers
