the elk
DON'T THE LITTLE ONES TASTE CRAPPY AT THAT SIZE? At 46cm's, they are not called "soapies" for nothing... they taste like a bottle of morning fresh dishwashing liquid
tuffy
Gentlemen, they are called soapies because of the slippery liquid covering their scales when they are young - Not because they taste like soap. Tuffy

the elk
HAHAHAHAHA..... how rumours and wife tales travel and change!! Yes you are absolutely right. I always thought it was because a jewie smaller than about 70cm had soft mushy flesh that has a very neutral, soaplike flavour - hence not very pleasant until they get to the larger size. It is funny how different version of fishing theories and techniques morph over time!
