jawwneee Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 hey guys, i plan to head out to Yarra Bay at La Perouse with a few friends in the near future. we are all beginners and were wondering if anyone could give us a few tips on some good locations around yarra bay, best bait, how to rig our lines, and general hints and information that could help us have a good day out fishing. thanks in advance for your replies.
Flatty.Fan686 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi Jawnee . I myself am hoping to get out to Yarra Bay with a few mates before the school hlidays finish . I have been told by a few people on my thread that Yarra Bay is good . I myself have no idea what to use here . But Im just going to use Prawns & soft Plastics at this stage until I get abit more Info . Goodluck Cheers , Rhys
Gremlin Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Ive been there plenty of times before but never fished it, I'm lucky enough to have a mate who lives less than about 500m away from Frenchmans Bay & Yarra bay, Always saw people fishing it though Just have a look at it on Google Maps, or better yet use http://www.nearmap.com/ because you see far more detail, mostly its sand with lots of weed and depending where you go along la perouse some rock around You can fish around Bare Island (and even off the bridge) for Squid etc and some rock species then when you head more for the beaches there your going to mostly be targeting flatties and whiting obviously with the odd other fish thrown in from what ive seen caught there I actually plan on heading out there land based sometime in the next few weeks probably during the night/early morning to avoid all the people using the beach during the day and target flatties and whiting and try and score some squid on jigs around bare island if you dont find a spot producing dont be afraid to move, theres plenty of area there to have a go As for rigs just use the rigs you'd normally use to target those species, I'll probably try prawns beach worms and squid if i get any when i head there since I dont have any soft plastics, but im sure one of the SP gurus will tell ya what kind to use to target those fish etc
