mudskipper Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 went out under harbour bridge to flick some lures. at first no interest then a school of yakkas appeared and were a bit scared of something underneath unfortunatly couldnt tempt anything. saw lots of letherjackets, they were even attacking squid jigs. great to be out again and will def. do that again on my way to work. i was trying an albright for first time and noticed it was struggling abit to get through guides (should have checked the connection) next cast lost good vibe lure, sent to the horizon. ps do people prefer uni or albright knot for line to line connections? think i will stick with uni
A.dawg Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Uni all the way.... Easy and can be used for amost everything
monch Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Uni works fine for me, tried the improved albright for a while, noticed it slipped a few times when i was pulling stuff outta snags. Apparently didn't tie it well enough even though i take a lot of care with my knots. Can't be bothered with a knot that has an inherent risk of slipping (albright) so i now use a double uni knot for lighter stuff and slim beauty for the heavier lines.
Ray R Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Good to see you out on the water again, as for the mono to braid connection, I use an improved albright, if you do it right it is super strong and will not slip, also it is very slim and will run through your guides cast after cast with no probs..
mudskipper Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 thanks guys thats what i thought. have heard good things about slim beauty, so will give it a shot. think i need a current knot book cheers
