hi guys,

i was talking to my mate on the phone and he has an issue with his motor.

he had it laying on its side for a few mths on the ground (i know ya not supposed to) while he rebuilt and painted his boat..

now he noticed that the oil leaked and seemed to come out those grills..

how can this happen on a motor thats only 6hrs old and not even run in.

if oil can leak out water must be able to get in me thinks...

well he used wrong type oil(i think he said was normal gearbox oil :1wallbash: ) to refill after he drained remaining oil..

it now is frothy and seems to have water contamination...

now my question is if oil leaked out does this mean seals are gone or is laying motor down causing it to leak...

anyway he is pretty handy with stuff esp boats and was surprised at mistakes he made..

he is gonna get new seals and put proper oil and see how it goes..

i told him i woulda flushed out oil and drained let sit for a while tomorrow while its hot then refill with fresh oil run in tank keeping close eye on it the drain and check oil..

looking for input from others with mech exp..

thx guys...

cheers...steve.....

very weid dude ,you say its coming out grills ,i gather you mean water intakes,if so something wrong dude, water pump housing must have leak and if oil milky already it means its been like it when last used, you say it only has 6hrs on the motor so should still be under warranty if so dont touch ,put motor back on and take back to dealer, also what brand motor is it man, good luck and let us all no the out come roosterman and remember go the eagles! :1prop:
