Haha, bet that title got some attention..... :1prop:

Anyways, i have scored a free tinny from the in-laws, its just a little brooker ct10. Its in good nick considering its been sitting in a yard for the last 10 years. On a quick inspection all it needs is a new engine mounting pad on the transom, nothing 30 mins with a jigsaw and some particle board wont fix.

So after I give it a decent once over and a leak test its going to need a motor because rowing is not my forte. Just after some opinions on what size you guys would go for. Something around 6-10hp sounds fairly reasonable for it. I dont want to build a speed demon and it wont be venturing anywhere near rough seas or large swell, most likely something to cruise around the hawkesbury area and possibly around to flint when the weather permits.

So basically the questions are;

1. Does something around the 6-10hp mark sound right?

2. Is a motor that size going to put it over 10kt max speed?

3. I cant find alot of info about brooker ct10's on google, so any info/nostalgic stories you guys know would be great.

Thanks in advance. :biggrin2:

There were a lot of these little tinnies around a few years ago unfortunitely many were used as mooring minders for days on end or got towed around behind bigger boats , hence suffered badly from metal brake down. :( I have seen a lot fitted with 6hp motors which seem to get them up and going but I doubt if they would go over your 10k. Don't go past a smaller motor that has the fuel tank built in on top as it saves you a lot of space and you will need all the space you can get for your fishing gear in this little bloke. :1fishing1: Good luck & I hope it becomes a real fishing machine for you. :thumbup:

Better make that plywood.A 5 or 6 with a built-in tank would be great with that,I had a 12' lightweight tinny with a 5 years ago that would plane no problem-depends how fast you want to go of course.

Cheers,

Dave.
