Hi all

Really sad to hear of yet another drowning death, the 4th in a week, this time a 61 year old man drowned swimming at 6.45pm at Blueys Beach, south of Forster.

The only thing that is constant in all the drownings, is that they all happend late afternoon/early evening! Most seem to have occurred 6 - 7pm.

A 61-year-old Sydney man is the fourth person in a week to drown in surf at NSW beaches, this time on the NSW north coast, police say.

The man from inner-west Newtown entered the ocean at Blueys Beach, just south of Forster, with a friend at about 6.45pm (AEDT) on Monday.

"The man was seen body surfing a wave and shortly after was seen floating in the water," police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The surf was one metre high.

Two off-duty life guards performed CPR until ambulance officers arrived, but the man could not be revived.

It follows the death of 48-year-old Sydney man Steve Pauner, also from Newtown, who drowned on Sunday at Lake Conjola on the NSW south coast after he tried to save his two sons and a friend who got caught in a rip.

Mr Pauner's death came just days after Joseph and Carole Sherry drowned at Ballina on the NSW north coast last Tuesday.

With all this hot weather, if you are going to swim in the evening, please take care - maybe, even don't drink alcohol & swim - it is not worth the risk.

Cheerio
