tan the fisherman Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 you need to talk to Roberta or GoFish Pete
gooddong Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 sport is about 2200 bucks. Outback and Revo are 2400-2500. You have to increase your budget or buy a seond hand one. Good luck!
prawn* Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 ok i'll keep an eye out for a 2nd hand one 2 start off on then maybe upgrade later on down the track thanks for the heads up
arpie Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 (edited) Hi Mcfishin You can't go past the Hobies for stealth fishing at its best! Hands free fishing - I eat my lunch whilst I am under way, drink & fish whilst pedalling. You just can't beat it! I have the SPORT (the smallest of the fleet) and just love it. It has a fish finder on it & rod holders, 2 storage hatches & places for everything to be put when out fishing. I bought mine 2nd hand (with the fish finder) for $1500. Lots of people are upgrading either to Revolutions or Pro Anglers, so you should have no difficulty finding a good priced used Hobie. Your weight usually dictates which yak would suit you, altho lighter people can easily use the longer yaks, the same can not be said about the SPORT. They are terrific for small water fishing (I can turn around in the leases when I come to a dead end, whereas the bigger yaks have to be poled out backwards!) I see you are in the Shire - i would be very surprised if there isn't a hobie dealer near you! I bought mine from a guy over there! Save your pennies & get the best straight up!! gooddong Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Hobie kayaks are also very stable. I have another Hobie Lanai and it is quite stable likes my outback. Previously I had a Australis Squid and not too happy with it.

craigtempo Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 hi craig i will be doing soft plastic/lure for jew bream flatty i have a boat which is set up for live baiting so i just really want to get into the lure's on the yak i think at the speed u travel its ideal, hobies are great for this sort of fishing . they do have some disadvantages but what kayak dosnt ???? if u want to go peddle power than another brand to look at is called native craft . they are pedal powered but they are able to be pedled in reverse as well . i will be buying another yak in the not to distant future and i will be having a good look at one of these. i curently use a viking tempo which is a fantastic yak and i do the sort of fishing that u want to do on a yak . they are aussie built , have a 10 year hull warrenty and in my opinion are one of the best fishing yaks on the market and they are only $1100 new and come standard with a good seat ,a good padle hat and drink botle . the one thing about them is they need a rudder system on them [ i think ] and the factory fitted one is expensive [ $380] but if u are handy with tools u can build and fit one yourself . this is what i did at a cost of less than $20 . made from stuff i had in my garage . really there are so many good fishing yaks out now we are spoilt for choice . oh and be prepaired this IS A VERY ADICTIVE FISHING STYLE to get into good luck craig
