Whittley
Hi everyone, I have been viewing posts for sometime now and have read about the kingfish in Botany Bay. I have always failed to catch one and I have tried many ways. Took a friend out on Friday as we are both still on Holidays. We trolled from the mouth of Botany Bay to Bondi Beach. We caught approximately 20 Bonito kept only a couple but it was fun. Stopped at Wedding Cake Island and bottom bounced for a while and I caught the Morwong. Wind came up so we headed back into the Bay fished drifting across the channel for a while (previously caught good size flatties etc) but did not get a bite. Finally went to the runways and found schooling yakkas (1:00pm in the afternoon) so we threw out the hand-lines and caught a few for bait. Put a yakka out on a rod and about 10 minutes later I pulled in my first Kingfish from Botany Bay. Have caught many in Narooma but for the life of me could not get one here. Monkey off my back now, very happy. This is my first post, thanks for all the other posts with tips etc, they have been great.
