Quiet Morning At Towra

Took my son and his mate out to Towra this morning - 1st time for both (it was also his mates birthday). Didn't have much luck but caught my usual ''unusual fish'' - a 40 cm pike. Did see some some bloke fight with a 'bent rod'for at least 15 minutes, whilst doing a number of laps around the boat.

Whilst sitting there at Towra, we heard a mighty rumble coming. We turned around and saw about 20 boats flying everywhere. We suddenly realised "fishing comp". Whilst I have seen the charge of the light brigade on fishing shows, I have never seen it live. These guys motor for their spots. We only realised later that we should have followed a few to find a few spots :1wallbash::1naughty:

These guys have serious boats with power. By the time I had started the 40hp, they were gone. Very interesting to see.

Wouldn't mind hearing if any Raiders were in the comp this morning and how they went.

Iceman.

Yes it was quite interesting seeing the procession. It was almost as rough as running for your local bingo table when the Club doors open :risata:

The guy we saw with his mate was about 200 metres off Towra and out from the end of the beach, eastern end in about 6 - 8 feet of water. He drifted for about 100 metres whilse he wrestled with the catch until he brought it in. We were too far away to see it (we thought it was a flattie). Not the flashiest boat out there but hey, it was catching the fish so #1 in my books :1fishing1:

Even if it wasn't you, I am looking forward to reading your report.
