Charter

Hi All,

I am heading up to the tropics in mid May and was after some advice into any known fishing charters in that area. I am after either

A day trip out to the reef or beyond to catch some pelagics, chase some billfish or whatever is available, but i don't want to be on a boat with 30 blokes jigging the bottom all day.

or

A trip out to one of the dams in the area chasing some Barra?

I am mainly after a guide or charter that caters for a more personal experience rather than a pig pen and jostling to get a line in the water.

Thanks

LW

Hi LW,

Ive fished out of Hamilton Island on a charter, cant rememebr the name but its one of 2 on the island. The target was Spaniards and everyone got one bar me! He takes about 6 people on a medium size flybridge. From memory about 4 lines are in the awter and you take turns on strike. It was a good day depsite mot getting one myself.

However if I was going back I would me more inclined to look into the Dam fishing options in Proseprine it sounds like more of what your after in terms of personal experience.

I saw a DVD or fishing programme with a section on Barra fishing n the Peter Faust dam and it looked awesome, in saying that I didnt price it or investigate fully as I only heard about it after my trip! See www.barramundicharters.com/Brochure

for more info.

Ill see if I can find the DVD this evening to see fo there are specific contacts I can give you

Mark

G'day LW,

That is Lindsay Dobe, from Proserpine Bait and Tackle. A nicer bloke you wouldn't want to meet. He and his mate Jason are the guns on Peter Faust Dam. You will be impressed if you charter him for a day. Lindass has taken Barra from Faust every month of the year, so you should get to feel one of the monsters up there, getting it to the boat will be your problem though.

Hope you have a great trip.
