Basil D
Hi all, had a phone call from a friend of mine(Yordigo) Monday and asked if I wanted to go fishing Tuesday? Well I was in the middle of painting and said yep, painting can wait. I then rang my brother and asked if he wanted to come and yep his on. Got up 4am and ran my mate yordigo and he was still asleep. Well i packed all the gear in the boat and rang him again at 4.30am and He was still sleeping, 5 min later yordigo rang me back, of we go then Got to the water at 6am and started trawling along the south head and within minutes, they were on, couldn’t even get 20meters without been hit. We got 25 and left them on the bite, also got one frig mac on a surface popper. most fish took a rapaler 5 inch sardine blue. we then headed to a local reef spot and got 18 wrasse, leather jackets, Trevaly, red rock cod, sweep, and had a shark tease up, wouldn't take the bait, it would nibble at it and let it go. Looks like we picked a great day to be on the water. Edited February 9, 2010 by Groper

The first bonito was cut into cubes and the pieces sat in lime juice to cook for a few hours. Lunch was beautiful. Fresh as you can get. Also they were great on the BBQ that night. Saw a funny sight when a bonito missed the lure and flew about 8ft in the air. Must have been hungry.
paulthetaffy
Hi Groper, That's a great haul! Sounds like you had a top day! Just curious but do you keep your bonnies for baits later as I hear they don't freeze well at all for eating? If so, do they need to be salted? Cheers Paul
