Beach Fishing - Newbie Questions

Hi Guys,

I just got a 12ft 5-10kg beach rod and spin reel and I just want to know your thoughts on hook and sinker size etc. I have the rod spooled with a 7-8kg mono and I will mostlikely use a 20lb leader.

Is there a particular setup thats better? I am going to be baiting with half or whole pillies, to catch Aussie Salmon, Tailor etc. single hook and sinker setup or a siker further up the line and then 2 hooks 5cm apart to put 1 hook through the jaw and then another through the guts?

Another question is butterflying a pillie worth while for beach fishing or is that more likely something to do if your trolling in a boat?

I have been practising my pendulum cast and even the brighton cast lol.

Anyways, I know I am pumping everyone full of questions but I am on the fast track learning as much as I can. I dont want to be a pro, I just want to know what I am doing.

Cheers

Ben

doggy drawing lol

this is what i would use for half pillies or pillie and worm

but for a full pillie i would just use 1set of gangs on the upper 3way swivel with 50cms of leader and about 80cms of main to the sinker you can vary any part its up to you thats if the salmon and tailor are about in numbers

if your just going for tailor and salmon just use 2olb line straight through..

buy some 4/0 gang hooks, some medium sized swivels and some large ball sinkers and your in business..

the rig is 3 or 4 gangd hooks (depending on pilchard size) with a 50cm trace to a swivel then your sinker..

find some holes or gutters to fish in and it wont take long.. :1fishing1:
