Mr Rob
Did the run up to long reef 3am on the 20th with a few mates. After sounding around and finding some fishy marks the anchor went down. All set and ready I hear “Where did you put the pillies” followed by the usual blame game. Some bright spark left there block in the car. Lucky for them i had one block as well, but there goes the berley trail. With that behind us it didn’t take long for the first cracker of a run. This turned out to be a 73cm 4kg snapper. Hi 5s all round the adrenalin was up and the rest of us were pumped tho get one of our own. We got another 2.5 kg model followed up by a couple legal but under sized ones in my books. Then the sun came up and that was that. We had them at the back of the boat but they didn’t seem hungry, Time to find a new spot. The short story is after a few drifts and many unwanteds later it was time to look for kings. Got the live bait but couldn’t find any fish. One more drop found a nice fat groper and the clock had beaten us. On the way home 2 bonnies found their way on board. All in all we caught what we went out to catch so it was a successful run. Below is the prised catch and cocky angler. The fish also had a hole sea urchin in its belly.
