roosterman
hi guys, went out in search of kings on sunday morning and really struggled to get liveys but a tankfull was eventually achieved just in time for sunrise.. there was warnings of the tsunami so kept the radio on (i mostly do anyways) i was gonna get a bonnie and troll it for a hoody king but decided to hit colors first .. as sun peeped up the sounder started showing good fish. down went the riggers and some passes were made.i cut my finger on the wire and with it being sloppy and fatigued from hard long week workwise i snagged another bomb . bugger this, out came the jigs and we moved around drifting over some good showings.. bang double hookup simons comes aboard first and its a big bonnie, meanwhile mine keeps tearing away with 4kg drag. at first he came pretty easy but when he saw the boat the games began.. eventually net a very fiesty just under 70cm. it was getting packed and everyone seemed to keep outa dramas. i was a little worse for ware so ended up putting a livey deep while trying to get my second wind while fighting off the dreaded.. we score a few more bonnies and then my tyrnos screams, another very fiesty fish pulling 6kg drag,i eventually get him topside and seeing him well hooked swing the just under 80cm king aboard.. we moved around abit but they were thinning out by now.. time to move then when pulling my livey in i feel weight,up comes another big bonnie.. :1Lighten:some calls an txt were made and i decided to make my first fad run,it was still early .. got to the fad with 3 boats still working the area. first cast simon pulls a little dollie between 45-50cm .. there was a few there and out wide but very fussy and very small, fun on the silly string though.. i only had one hookup that eventually threw hook back at us ...literally... water temp out to fad was 24.6 so was pretty warm. simon got a huge baker on jig an he hit a fair bit off the bottom was nice to get out then set lures for trip home and halfway get a bonnie double on surface and deep diver.. was a nice day out and had a few laughs about which wave was the one to pass under us... i think we wernt the only ones as a couple guys out wide asked as late as 2pm about tsunami updates id rather be on the water than on land if it came to it anyhows... thx for the company simon and congrats on the new species... heres me with our catch and simons dollie cheers...steve..... framedtrash
cheers for the day out steve even tho i had no luck on any legal kings was still a fun day i really hope that the big dollies pull alot harder then the rats as it was a pretty disappointing fight even on 4lb line you forgot to mention that i grew tired of you catching all the fish so i had to throw one of your big bonnies over board the baker i took on a jigg was a good 10-15mtrs off the bottom was rather disappointing when i saw it surface really had my heart set on a legal dollie o well thats why they call it fishing not catching theres always next time my next trip out is going to be a bait free trip and im going to stick to jigging all day
