mandrich
Hey guys This is my first post so its good to be here and iv already learnt alot. I have a Brooker 435 with a 50hp Mercury. Iv been wanting to put underfloor storage in my boat for a while, just to get things out of the way. Currently there is alot of foam under the floor. I was wondering if it was necessary to have all this foam there and if not how much should i leave in there/take out? Another aspect i have to look at is cutting the floor to make the hatches. he flor of my boat is split into two sections, right down the middle. I gather that to ensure the floor is stable, the cuts must be made so they go over 2 of the cross beams? i was wondering if you guys could give me some idea's/tips. I was thinking that i would just find some plastic tubs i can put under there to fit in the space that i have. what do you think? I mainly want to store odd bits and maybe a an esky type space to put fish, drinks etc Any idea's would be great Iv added pics to show what i mean (its sometimes hard to explain) cheers michael

pinta_bay_pirates
The foam is there so the boat doesn't sink if for some unfortunate reason it capsizes. If you only take it in rivers and such....and you never forget the bungs..(guilty)....and you know how to swim.. then take it out.. Not too sure about legal issues....but yeah... Yeh i knew i was there for floatation but like you say it depends on the use of the boat as to how important it is. I wouldnt want to take to much out thas for sure hope for some more ideas cheers guys
