Electric Trailer Winches

Hi all

I'm new to Fishraider and have really enjoyed the info sharing on so many topics.

I am in the market for an electric trailer winch and would appreciate any helpful info/suggestions etc, prefrebly positive but I can also handle the bad news stories!.

My boat is a 30 yr old 18 ft Sundowner with a Merc 90 HP (8 yrs old). Total weight is about 1500kgs.

Any ideas on what to use? - I have to winch from the water - no drive on.

Hi and welcome. Best advise is buy a good qaulity one, do not be tempted by price-it will come back and bite you. Also get one that is rated easily for your size rig, which would not be 1500KGs for boat and engine, more like 800-1000KGs and a good quality winch will cost about $1000 and you might also have to budget on a new winch platform to allow you to fit an electric winch.
