cameldownunder
I bought Flare-set just because of that: Limited Open Waters. Sydney Harbour: East of Quarantine Point or if the waves are 1/2m height. Another member also rightly said that you need a Map. In paper. Do a search here, there are plenty of Posts about this. From a previous post on another subject, the below was quoted: Limited open waters are classed as open waters when waves exceed 0.5m from trough to crest in any part of that area. bergo
i know that but its a fairly rough area dont you think. how r u meant to judge that correctly and how is maritime meant to judge that. in other words u may aswell get your flare kit and v sheet etc to save the trouble. Anroco
I agree, so in that instance, i always ensure i have my flares and V sheet with me regardless weather it is open or limited waters..Wouldn't you, knowing that it is a rough area ? Small price to pay considering what the consequences might be. CHeeRS Antun Edited March 30, 2010 by Anroco

Catchin Jack
Refer to the Maritime website, it tells it quite clear what you need and when. Here's Link Cheers, Leo
