Down South

G'day all Raiders,

Long time reader first time poster. Thought id share some sessions I've had lately. Spent 3 days down south last month for a mates bucks party and boy was i not disappointed. We stayed at a place called Murrah which is an hour or so past Batemans bay. Such a beautiful place down there.Stayed in a house where the owner rents half the house. I know your all probably thinking a brave man to rent the house he stays at to a bucks group the guy must be crazy, but he was actually a pretty nice guy and didn't mind the loud music and heavy drinking that was going on.

The house was situated in a very bushy area of land with nice open rolling hills. To get to the actual house you had to travel 1km down a dirt road till you reached it.After introducing ourselves to the owner i eagerly asked him how to get to the beach as i was keen for a fish after a 5 hour trip.He quickly pointed to another dirt road on the property to my delight which was about a 1 min drive down to the beach . I quickly packed my rods got my esky with some mixed bait and headed for the beach as the sun was quickly going down and i wanted to fish the last part of daylight.

First cast and i nailed a solid salmon, wow! here we go this is going to be a good couple of days.Spent the next hour or so catching some good solid fish all being Australian salmon using star sinkers and ganged pillies.Went back and told the boys how good it was and planned for the next session early the next morning on sunrise.

After a lot of drinks that night and no sleep at all i was sitting there waiting for the sun to rise so i could make my way down to the beach. Got to the beach as planned, cast the rod and waited a bit then bang i was on to a nice salmon this time i had some lads come down with me to get into the action as it was on fire and a good time to catch fish as they weren't regular fishos.About an hour or so after sunrise i landed this monster specimen didn't measure it up as i didn't have a tape measure with me but man did it take some pulling in especially trying to fight it with the surf, caught another monster that morning it was obvious that the big salmon were hanging around in numbers early morning. The bite then slowed down the next few hours so decided to head back as i had caught more fish in a few hours fishing than i have in most sessions here in Sydney.I did another night and morning session before we headed back to Sydney, with most fish caught being salmon and also some very big Taylor at night which weren't much smaller than the salmon being caught, seriously never seen tailor so big before.

All fish caught were released to fight another day besides 2 which we kept to eat cause the boys wanted them, i don't eat to much fish myself i just love the surprise in the catch.

Anyways guys i hope u enjoyed the post, sorry if it was a bit long had to get all this off my chest as i'm the only real keen fisho out of my mates and its always good to share the experience with people whom i know will appreciate it.

Cheers,

G.T

Nice 1st post.

Sounds like the perfect w/end. Plenty of hot fishing sessions, top mates, the odd :biggrin2: .

Would have loved to have seen some pics of those monster salmon & tailor.

They sound like some really good sized fish.

Well done.

Cheers,

Grant.

Thanks Grant,

It no doubt was a perfect way to spend some time with mates :1fishing1::biggrin2: Good times...

I'm trying to find some photos that were taken on a mobile phone by one of the lads I'll try and post a couple if i can.

Will definitely be more organized next time I'm heading out for a fishing session now that I'm a member on this site. Only thing to do now is catch some more fish  .

Happy fishing! and good luck on that special catch... :icon_peace:

Cheers,

G.T
