joshagius
Hi all bit of a late post ! i headed out with a mate early friday morning (26.03.10) from bayview boat ramp and headed to a squiding spot in pittwater we got there and there were squid everywere they were feeding on a school of small bait fish we tryed afew different colours of jigs but they were not very interested we did manage to get 4 arrow squids and dropped 1 huge southern which would have been ideal to cut into strips. The sun started to rise so we headed out into broken bay i trolled for 10 mins and picked up 1 bonito for some bait until we hit a spot we often fish conditions were great wind was about 6 Knots no swell perfect. I chucked out 1 of the squid on my rod to see if there were any takers it was a bit quiet for the first hour with no bites until i noticed afew strong taps on my road i leaned over to grab my rod picked it up and had a strong bite so i struck my rod and was on my rod starts screaming as line is being pealed from by shimano bait runner, i tighten the drag and start gaining line back on wat i assume is a kingy 10 mins later after afew runs and short burst i bring the king up boat side and my mate nets my first keeper king for the season he mesaured 70cm i was stoked. things picked up a little bit after that my mate hooked up to another kingy but his knot gave way and the fish was lost. in between waiting for bites we were haveing some fun with some big southern squids that were following in out bates from time to time we managed to catch 2 the hoods on these squid would have been atleast 30cm, my mate doesn't eat squid so i was lucky enough to take both them home for dinner. we had one more hit on our bates but the fish spat the hooks and there was no hook up. We decided to call it a day and head home was a great days fishing i was happy to be heading home with a keeper for a change insted of throwing back undersized kings. stan
Well done mate, There seem to be a few arrows around in Pittwater at the moment. I usualy get southerns, however, last outing they were all arrows. However, I couldn't convert them to kings, so again well done.
