bisso
Gidday Raiders, i was after a bit of a guide for a cost to take a 70hp off my existing boat and have it put onto my other larger boat. i have all the cables for the control box and steering cable which are long enough without any modifications. from what i have measured, it should be a case of taking the motor off the old boat and fit onto my new boat. i have even checked transom mounting hole size and location which are the same for both boats. now i thought about doing it myself but we live on a steep hill and our driveway isnt friendly either for this type of thing. therefore i think i should get a marine place to do the work instead. My query is what should it roughly cost to swap motors based on the above? Thanks in advance. Cheers Mick Edited April 14, 2010 by bisso
Flightmanager
I would think somewhere in the region of $600 to $800 , it would depend on how long the job takes. ] Ross
IWANNABROCK
Mate its not that hard of a job, acces to lifting equipment is biggest thing, block and tackle or engine crane which can be hired from Kennards or the like is cheap, just make sure you use sika flex or other good sealant on bolts and in bolt holes when refitting them, use big plate washers so bolts cant pull through transom, then just matter of running the cables to control box. a boat
Hi Mick, if it goes according to plan and is a straight swap then I would think about $500 with the Raider discount, but impossible to accurately quote without seeing the boats. Cheers, Huey.
