someguy2k
I recently been hooked in the world of blackfishing, Caught and ate some blackfish in my first two outings in Port Hacking. I found in the flesh there is some traces of sand/dirt that makes the eating experience not that great. Just wondering if others have such experience. Captain Spanner
Could it have gotten in there when you cleaned/stored the fish?

arpie
Hmmmm, Likewise - I have had the odd 'tough' one & the odd one with a worm infestation in its flesh, but never sandy/grit! Double check that your cleaning table is really clean & free of sand - some folk take a bucket of fresh salt water with them, to rinse the skinned fillets in, rather than use fresh water, which they reckon affects the flesh somehow ........ I don't bother with that, tho, myself! And yes, I do rinse them in fresh water if I fillet & skin them. Usually, I leave them whole, with the skin/scales on and just smoke them! Much easier!
