Lighthouse Beach, Seal Rocks

novice

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

We have booked our July fishing trip up at seal rocks, namely treachery beach, but have just found out that the beach has been closed to 4wd access :ranting2: . It's only pedestrian access now.

We normally fished the southern end of the beach, with all our gear, food, camp cooking stuff in the trucks, so going for a wall from the access point to the fishing spot is not going to happen.

you can still access lighthouse beach by 4wd, and we've tried here before, but with not much success. The gutters that form on treachery beach seem more productive.

Has anyone had much luck on lighthouse ??? Can anyone offer some pointers ????

We're going down on the 16th to 19th July.

Cheers,

Taps.

You're talking about lighthouse beach in port macquarie right? Haven't been there for a few years but you can bag a good feed of whiting from where the camel rides are. Have also hooked a fair few decent bream on fresh pipi's. There's some solid dart on off but they can be a pest when your targeting whiting. In the afternoon have also seen a few people hooking tailor/salmon about a 500m drive down the beach.

Hope this helps.

I know the beach you mean. I head up there every year whilst im camping in the Myall lakes area. The light house beach has never given me anything but shovel nose sharks.

If you head along mungo brush near that way, you can find alot of better camp sites than offered near Lighthouse. Most are behind dunes so will shelter you when the winds come up, and the beach has big bream and big tailor and im guessing you could get jews and others there with the right baits. Just make sure you keep your catch nearby or the sneaky dingo's will get them.

Nothing funnier than a cursing fisherman running up the beach chasing a dingo with a big tailor hanging out of its mouth!!

Hope you have fun up there, in July i'll personally be in France with work doing the final Re-inturnment of the lost soldiers of Fromelles!! Then 2 weeks down south with my family catching big french trout and the summer rays!!
