Little Hooker
Hi fellow fisho, Jus cracked the big 3 0 the other week and my good freinds has gave me a gift voucher at the local tackle shop. It almost can get me a certate 4000 hyper custom Ive been losin sleep over the choice i have to make. The spools on the 09 are shallow as so im sure i have to find a deeper spool to fit a decent amount of line. I really want a light weight jiggin outfit tho ive been told that the hyper customs arent really up to scratch for jigging...... But in the spec sheets it says they use the same gears as in the saltiga models. So whats the down fall usin these little beauties??? My next option is the saltiga 4500/H but that is really stretching the budget. Can i have some words of wisdom please. thanks
SZ1
Hi Mate, k have a mate who used the Certate 3500HD for light jigging and does ok, I am sure there aa few others out there jigging with this reel. How ever I don't think the Certates was designed for jigging, although in saying that i persoanlly think using a certate with light jigging with samller jig such as <100grams would be no problems. If the Saltiga 4500 is out of the budget have a look at the catalina 4500.
Little Hooker
yeah i had a play with the catalina which seem to be decent but give voucher is more then the reel. tho saltiga has a better colour scheme .
tree
ive got the 4000hyper... its a an awesome reel. though i think i bought it mainly for the looks than anything else.. i havnt gotten the chance to use it much yet as im overseas but for light jigging it shoudnt be a problem.. though in my opinion the best all rounder lightish reel for jigging in and around sydney would be an 8000 stella... ohh and the hyper fit 300m of braid on the spool when i spooled it i think... Daniel Frost
Mate I have a 3500 HD Certate and think it would be fine for the application you have suggested , daiwa also do a 4500J capricorn which is a jig reel which would also be suited well to the type of fishing you are going to be doing and should come in under the budget with change for some extra jigs or braid . Little Hooker
Guys today i bit the bullet and brought a catalina 4500H. I couldnt afford to fork out another 400 bucks for the saltiga atm as im headin off to japan on tuesday so i really need to save what i can to so i can splurged my life away in the tackle shops over there. Never know maybe i will bump into a bargin and score my self a certate custom hyper. Now for the rod..... Jigging master rod is first on the list. Unless tackle shops in japan can lead me another way. Anyone out there that uses a 4500 series reel matched with a jigging rod?? I be usin 250 to 300g jigs.
