slinkymalinky
:1prop: I went out on our block at luchtime to have a cast with my new Nitro Outlaw baitcaster... as you do Hmmmmmmm... matched it to my little Abu 1500 and tied on an SX40 to see if I could get a longer cast than with my old TraverseX. The new rod is 6'... the old one only 5'3"... so I guess it was always going to be a no-contest. Unfortunately, the big Melaluca about 20m away didn't move. The little 4g lure was still going up from a 'ballistic' side-cast when it entered the tangled branches about 5m up, never to return. The good news is the rod certainly met my casting expectations. The bad news is that it exceeded them by so much I and my thumb were completely unprepared for just how far it will toss a tiny lure. There's a moral to the story... I don't know exactly what it is but I know there is one. Anyone good at climbing who wants an SX40? Slinky

arpie
:Funny-Post: :074: Everyone's done it at least 'once' Tony, so you are not on your own!! There IS an extending Golf Ball retriever (about $30 in golf shops .... bet that one you took me to for Keith's anti-fog would have them) and it goes to about 4m ..... so as long as the climber can get a meter or so up the tree, you are in with a chance! You have to replace the head with a rather large treble with all the pointy bits taken off first ..... Anyone got a video camera??? Roberta Very good idea, Still Learning - casting plugs!! Make your own with hookless lures!!

Daniel Frost
One day I wsa out the back of JBjews house and having a flick with just a sinker tied to the end of the line , it cast like a bullet obviously but I was just practicing my accurracy and some trick casting . When out comes JB , deciding he wants to show me his casting prowess ... at the time his neighbour was up on his roof installing some huge dish an tioling away trying to get it in place . JB says "Watch this i'm gunna cast it right next to him , it will scare the crap out of him " before I could raise my concerns JB just fired the sinker out at 1000MPH like a sniper taking out a terroist this thing hit him right in the back and the bloke went down like a sack of spuds and we did the Harold Holt back inside the house. The poor bloke must have thought he was hit by a bullet , and JB I can't believe how accurate you were , he was one unlucky man . The morale of the story "if you live near JB, call someone else over to instal anything on your house that is above the fence line" Bubba

stylo
haha gold Bubba !! I have another one where I was casting out the FRONT of my house out on the street (backyard was getting wayyy too small for these games). Cast .. snagged on a tree on the opposite side of the road ... started retrieving and a Rolls Royce wedding car (hired) started rolling down the hill. So here I am winding like a mad man but to no avail .. So the Rolls rolls by and I guess what can only be best described as 'coat hangs' itself on my outstretched line and my reel started screaming !!!! Ran for 2-3 seconds then I thumbed it and schnnnap it went and there was a VERY LOUD clunk ... my jig head (with squidgy fish) had hit the Rolls. I ran back into the house like a little girl and shut the garage door fast, and hid. The driver never turned around to examine his car, strangely enough. Probably thought a piece of gravel hit his car and not a jig head ! Maybe no evidence of a ding on the car either. I sneaked out of the garage 5 minutes later, and the jig head (and fish) was hanging off a tree on my side of the road !?!? Don't ask me how but I grabbed and hid all the evidence and ever since then, I only practice in my backyard with buckets laid out.

Jewhunter
Glad to hear your new toy exceeding your expectations. You'll need the extra rod length to cast around me next time I block a snag. Shame I didn't see you do it. I could have sung you the "George of the jungle" song yet again! I'll bring my long ladder up next time mate & that sx40 is MINE! I hope this means we don't have to get so close to those bass snags now & I don't have to tease up your fish for you. Cheers, Grant.
