dhype
Hi Fellow Raiders. Took my nephew who was visiting from VIC for a quick fish cuz he was always complaining he never catches anything down south and has never caught fish using plastics. Hit the boat ramp at 8am and headed off to Bare Island for some squid but ending up with a donut. Pulled out the SPs and started drifting in 5m of water in front of the nudist beach.. on my second cast scored a nice flatty going 63cm Caught the flatty on a white Squidgy 100mm flick bait (no xfactor) - these are great lures! Flicked around a bit more and got a few hit but nothing connected, my nephew dropped a good fish when he got distracted by a mobile phone call.. he cursed his mom for the rest of the afternoon Trolled some X-Raps and Storm lures back towards Molli Point and found a school of Tailor down deep... went back and forth and boated a number of tailor about 45cm which all hit the $6 gold colored Storm lure, the $30 x-rap did not even get touched!! Fishing for you!! Headed over to Towra flats to join another 4 or 5 boats all flicking SPs. We managed a few nice flatties all on the gulp pumkinseed 4inch minnows... newphew is no long a SP virgin and loving it! The other boats around us also landed a good number of fish so there is no shortage of quality fish ATM. At midday and low tide, boated over to the sand flats to show him the art of pumping yabbies... 30 minutes later we had 40 or so yabbies in the bucket. Nephew yabby cout = 5 , Me = 35. With the yabbies in hand we headed over to Brighton and scored some quality travelly and bream, moved over to the Third runway and score more bream with plenty of small fish in between. Got back home, cleaned the boat and then tucked into a fantastic feed of fish. My nephew had great time and said he will take his new knowledge back home to see if he can improve is fishing. So- great fishing right now... just need to get over the cold weather! Cya all on the water. DHYPE!
