Arman,

I have a USA built Alloy trailer, she is 5 years old now, she holds my 2002 Trophy WA about 2500 kg all up including trailer, never a problem with it.

She has duratorque suspension ( no springs ), gal steel draw bar and gal steel winchpost , all the rest is ally. 140 mm Ally I beams and 75x75x 6 mm crossmembers bolted together with S/S bolts and just plated steel U bolts. The steel U bolts have surface rust so I have a set of S/S to replace them when I get around to it . She has 4 bunks and the brackets on the bunks are plated steel and they are rusting so I have made S/S brackets ready to change them when I get a chance .

When I bought her she had hydraulic vented discs with marine calipers and overide activation, all worked very well. Knowing about brakes and sea water, I bought a set of S/S calipers, S/S rotors, vented 275mm, 23mm thick and S/S brackets , I fitted then on about 3 years ago as well as a Sensa brake actuator.

I never had any issues with it , the only maintanence , new set of ceramic brake pads about 2 months ago ( the old ones still have a little left ).

I can tell you she tows very well up to and well above the legal speed , never any snaking and this is the only trailer I don't use my WDH, no need for it .

The boat sits very low because the axles are bent and so are the crossmembers and I have 15" rims so the calipers fit easy ( they would just fit under 14" steelies , I have alloys.

I bought mine in USA when I was there , same with the Trophy.

If you want to buy 2 trailers its worth buying them there and shipping them to AUS, if you deside to go down that road give me a buz if you like and I can help you out with advice on what to buy so its easy to coply with ADR and how to go about export and import.

If importing is not for you, buy an ally trailer here, Tubeseek trailers are very good , they run a unique suspension set up, all alloy and alloy axle too, I think there is a guy in QLD that imports them.

Cheers, Jerry

Ps: Don't buy any welded ally trailer , a well know manufacturer in Au sells them, they use to make them in USA many years ago , they break next to the weld.

Jerry thanks very much for the info ,can you tell us what the carpeted skids are like for drive on,s

always had multi roller trailers,to be honest they worry me a bit

i once drove a boat onto one of those bunk type arrangement trailers after the owner was struggling,it sort of felt a bit sticky and needed a fair bit of throttle to get it up,it was about 23- 25ft though

that's my only experience

and punchin2 ,thanks mate ive have justin,s details,he is certainly prompt with replies to my questions

cheers arman
