Aqua Naut
Headed out for a mornings fish, weather conditions just perfect with a slight SW wind and a rising high tide. Went out to the 3rd runway trolling a few lures and put out a few squid baits for Zip Then headed to the wall with nothing as well. It seems like the bay has no life what so ever. Sure there is fish but nothing seems to be caught which is legal Honestly pisses me off in how this bay of plenty has become the bay of empty in last year or 2. Has anyone got an old ship that needs sinking........Sink the bastard just outside the heads so it will give us some hope of bringing the fish in close. Anyway the only thing which gave my reel a work out was a Port Jackson Shark 100cm which took a squid bait just off Kurnell. Can't wait for Summer to arrive!! Tight Lines if there is any. Mate yes its a little tough out there as Winter can be in the Bay, simple tip don`t fish the bottom, fish as light as you can and add a burley trail of pellets and you will start catching fish trust me, but you will need to move around to find them at time, for a plan before heading out check my weekly report on my web site it might give you a spot or two worth fishing www.fishingsydney.com.au hope this helps mate. Aqua Naut
Thanks Scott for the tip. I did fish a few floating baits as well but there was nothing going. I thought there might of been a few Salmon or Tailor around but a big fat 0. Also tried outside on few reef beds just outside yellow rock and same there. We realy need to put a strong word out there to fisheries for that some more artifical reefs need to be laid out along our Eastern suburbs coastline and also maybe put that freekin Navy ship that the Central Coast people have protested against and sink the bastard just off the North head of the Bay in 100ft of water. This will realy change the bay after all the damage it has sustained since they dredged the bloody thing We need something down here. The Central Coast is full of wrecks and reefs and down here we have nothing in close. Anyway catchya on the water.
TheDon
Don't feel too bad about not catching anything in the Bay at the moment. Scotty Lyons never ceases to amaze me at how he continually goes out and finds fish in Botany Bay. I've been on one of his charters and we caught heaps of fish. But when I go out on my boat I seem to struggle. Even though I try to use the same techniques, the last 2 weekends I only managed 2 just legal bream and 2 just legal tailor. I think I'm going to go on another charter and pay more attention next time. Something I've noticed is when I get back to the boat ramp, people that are fishing with bait have been far less successful that those fishing with lure/plastics at the moment, so don't be afraid to give plastics a try. wannabefisho
I might as well show you the two fish, i didn't take photos of the reef stuff. Normally i would throw back a snapper this size but my brother wanted it for his daughter. The only reason i took a photo of it because when they are just on size , they are known to shrink about half a centermeter dead and you wouln't want to get fined. Thats a tank of a Mowie George! Well fishing a few fish for the table, even of the Reddie was "just legal" its still a fish worthy of taking home Better luck mext time fellas, everywhere is slow ATM with water temps between 12 and 14 degrees, offshore reefs are def the go from other reports I have read elsewhere. Guest Scotty Lyons
I think your right there is enough fishraiders out there to have something done, like a wharf that has a public loo as there is only one for the whole bay and thats the new one at Botany Ramp makes it tough for the ladies, what about one at Kurnell, Yarra bay and say four along the Brighton beach area, to bad if the bigger boats would like to buy coffees or lunch in this area, they can`t pull there boats up the sand and yes we need some good structure in close around the 50metre mark south and north from the bay we might then start to see the odd better Snapper caught a little more. Good report today of sand Flathead in 5ometre straight out from the bay worth a try. I have tried many times to push this stuff but we know the results we should push as one.
