Out Again Chasing Snapper

I was out again this morning chasing snapper.

I decided to go out to the 20m meter line again instead of fishing in closer.

The current was going against the wind which made drift fishing difficult.

It was quiet at first but after a couple of drifts I started to get bites.

Most of the bites were from pike and bakers but I had a great hit and run on a

Lucanus jig but the hooks pulled after the second run.

Had another good hit on a soft plastic and after a great fight a nice 51cm snapper

joins me on the kayak.

On the next cast I landed a nice trevally.

Things went quiet after that and I only landed a couple of pike.

I kept working the area as I could see fish on the sounder.

Soon after I had a great hit on a floating soft plastic.

This was a nice snapper as I could feel the headshakes but on the third good run the hooks pulled.

I fished on for another hour but I didn’t get any more hits from snapper.

Thats a nice Snapper. Im gonna head out for a Snapper sesh next weekend.

Those Pike are annoying huh ? I find once you get out past 20 meters there are no problems.

Are you running 1/4 Jighead ? Thats all i have been using but was thinking of using abit more weight for abit deeper water.

Cheers

The pike and bakers are annoying as they tend to put nicks in the line so you have to cut and tie the jig on each time one is hooked.

I have been using 1/8 jigheads most of the time but I will use 1/4 if the drift is quicker.

Getting bigger mate!!! wont be long before a 60 or 70cm fish hits the deck.

Well done.

Cheers Stewy

There are definitely bigger fish there but I've been a bit unlucky with hooks pulling but hopefully I'll get a big snapper soon.

Launching a yak off the beach looks like so much fun. I'm gonna give it a go when I get my shark shield.

Mick

It is fun but I can't wait till the water warms up a bit as it's really cold launching the yak first thing in the morning.

The swell was bigger than last weekend so I thought I was going to have trouble coming back in but I just sat behind the breakers for a while and picked a lull in the waves and just sat on the back of a wave till I was on the beach.

I’m definitely still interested in the prize.

On the original message you sent me you put your mobile as 0436264377, so I have been sending messages to the wrong number.

I'll contact you tomorrow on the right number this time :biggrin2:
