terryjbsmartin
Decided to take some time in lieu and hit the bay today at about six thirty. Slight nth westerly blowing trolled around to Little Bay without a hit. Drifted from Little Bay out to about 50 meters and picked up six morwong ranging from 40 to 50cms, We also managed two flathead around 45cms and two snapper at 38cms, plenty of throw backs in the process including a couple of jackets(when you've got a feed who needs jackets). Boat washed and cold beer in hand by 3pm, over all my fishing mate Alan and I had a great morning. Cheers raiders

TheDon
Sounds like an awesome day. I've seen lots of reports of people doing well drifting around that area lately. I'm new to boating and only just learning how to drift properly. Do you mind if I ask what bait you were using and can anyone recommend how to rig up the line for a drift in open waters? Cheers The Don

Cheers The Don sinker selection is important, just a 2 hook padernoster rig is usally the way to go,i always use some form of lumo gear above my hooks(a bead or a little squid) and braided line. Cheers The Don Hi mate, Jay1979 is spot on, we use a two hook paternoster rig with lumo beads at each hook this is sent down with a snapper sinker on the bottom. The weight of the sinker depends on many things including water depth, drift speed (wind) and line gauge. Yesterday we used size 5 snappers in the morning but ended up using threes as the wind eased. We were using bottle squid and fresh prawns.
