slayer666
I want to put 125yrds of 8lb spider wire on my shimano 2500 baitrunner. How much backing would I need to put on. I'm using 8lb-10lb mono. Any help would be great Cheers Joe Edited August 12, 2010 by slayer666
Guest
The best way is to have a big reel like an alvey or large threadline and wind all the braid onto your smaller outfit first and then top up with mono. Wind the mono onto another reel and then wind the braid back onto the original spool it came from and then add the mono again and then the braid. Its a small hassle at first but once you have the correct backing amount on it is easy just to replace the braid when its time and it will be perfect again. Cheers Stewy Cheers Stewy saved me from writing it i use the same method a bit of a hassle but you does the job great set a bit of drag on the alvey/reel when you wind it back on so the line goes on nice and tight
zephi
If you have another 2500 reel somewhere. Then just like wind the braid on to it, then top up the rest with mono... Now set the drag correct so there's some resistance. Simply attach the mono end to your baitrunner and wind the rest of the line off your other reel. That's the easiest method.
