Hi Guys

I am interested in getting a custom rod built of an old blank if i can find one preferably an mt8144 snyder for 12-15kg of the beach I have heard of dual mount rods in my case I would want an Alvey Low mount and a Spinning reel mount this way I can have a multi functional rod.Is this Possaible or will it interfere with the action of the rod mot to mention the fact that there will b 2 reel seats and 3 grips I think.I would appreciate any thoughts on the subject and where can I find an old blank.

Cheers Steve

Or just learn to use the low mount for spinning as well as the Alvey. I have an MT7144 low mount that gets used for everything and I taught myself to cast a threadline and overhead real from this location. As I am right handed I would use my right hand up the rod and the left on the real to release the line or thumb the spool. Just a much control as a high mount and the benefit is your right arm which will be stronger if you are right can put its full might into the cast without having to have a partial grip to enable real control - if that makes sense?

I also find it less tiring with a long heavy rod if the real mount is lower as the winding position is more comfortable. These rods are difficult to tuck under your arm and spin with which is the common method with a high real mount.

My old FSU4120 had a low mount seat for bait fishing bream and pigs with the bind on fuji seat for spinning up bonito and tailer, you could use x shink for the foregrip or as I did don't bother with one.

they were called blood nuts .in one of the old fishing mags there was a recipe for the 4120 as a mulit use rod ,Ive made them with 2 extsion's one short and one long .6 inches and the other 24 inches long both have a winch on them and are removabile ,pig and bream rod 10'6" / spin and snapper rod 12'6"
