Perko_tas
Hi All, I'm looking to buy a new (second hand) boat to skiing, wakeboarding, fishing and diving and am spoilt for choice! I think I have narrowed it down to a few classic hulls but am really after some advice from those with experience... I am looking at: Haines Signature 1700 or 1900 s Haines Hunter V17R Caribbean Belmont Or a similar boat in a bowrider For skiing and boarding I think the Signature 1700S would be best, but I am not sure how stable it would be at sea or as a fishing / diving platform...? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Perko
a boat
Hi, the Haines Hunter 17R would easily get my vote as best all rounder. Cheers, Huey.

Perko_tas
Hey, thanks for the reply! How does the Haines 17R differ from the V17R? or are they one in the same? I have spent a lot of time in and behind a V17R and it is a great boat. I am very tempted to get one of these hulls if one were to become available, but I'd also be keen to see if there were anything other hulls out there that can do a similar job??? Cheers, Perko

Guest
Makes sense, thanks Stewy. What does the V in front of the V17R stand for? Deep V? Perko Correct I have fished from a 19R and Haines signature 1950c and found the 19R amuch better riding boat as the step in the signature can lead to the boat porpoising at the pointy end. The variable deadrise is very nice in the 17R and 19R. Cheers Stewy

Perko_tas
Thanks heaps for your input. Looks like I'll be on the look for a 17R or 19R then... Sorry to bother you... So the V17R hulls are just a deep V, where as the 17R's etc have the variable dead rise taking them from a deep V to a flatter contour at the stern? Hope I have the right end of the stick...
