mimyo
g'day all, my last two sessions have been on the beautiful hawkesbury trying to catch the 'mythical' hairtail. My 1st sesh was in jew bay on the rising tide and no moon and the second was opposite cottage point in one of the bays on the falling tide and a rising moon. Picked up a 40cm snapper, a heap of choppers and 10 arrows all up. Anyone else had any success or failures chasing these fish?

Been out twice and basically had the same result as you fishing the same areas.. They don't seem to be around in numbers this year, same as the previous few years... scotty1856
I have had 5 trips this year with nearly the same results, choppers squid bream and small jews. The last few years have been the same for me but this seems to be a pattern they come for a few years in varying amounts and then gone with only a hand full caught. I remember back in the seventies they seemed more regular but so did everything. I am done for this year unless hear some positive reports but will give it a bash next year for sure. Haven't caught one in 5 years..... and that was at Box head 5:30am. There was a frenzy going on.... bagged out in 1/2 an hour.... Since then haven't heard any reports of a catch ..... most people are like hairwhat?
