adkel53
With three aboard we hit Botany bay around 8am to fish the run-out tide with plastics - hoping for some early season lizard action. Two fish around 45 cm and a seemingly better one lost half way back to the boat in the first hour gave us cause for some hope. However, it proved to be false hope, with only one more mid forties lizard coming to the net over the next three hours and what seemed like thousands of casts. The three fish landed all took an 80cm Squidgy fish in black gold (the "go to lure") and the lost one took a Squidgy pro fish in grasshopper colour. Water temperatures ranged from a touch over 15 degrees (where we caught the fish) down to just over 13 degrees. It seems that we need some warmer ocean water and/or some warm sunny days to warm the water and get the lizards firing in the bay. Bring on the true spring!! Cheers Kel

adkel53
Ooops!!! Glad my slip up gave a couple of perceptive Raiders a laugh. An 80cm Squidgy would surely be a sight to see! Maybe I've given Starlo and Bushy something to work on. Kel Edited August 23, 2010 by kel
jim77
Hey Kel Good to see you got out on the water at least and got a couple of fish for your trouble. The water sure is cold at the moment. It was under 13C last time i launched in the river!! Mate you should get some livies and give your downrigger a work out. There are a few decent Kings around atm if you know where to look... See you out there next school holidays
