Fish On A Weird Lure

I was fishing of the rocks down at Bawleys/Kiola last week. I just recently bought some lures of online shop and this lure was included in the pack. Anyway after fishing with fresh yakka strips and slimy strips i decided to put it on. My god it was amazing, the fish go crazy over it and I was pulling in fish after fish, even managed to hook a salmon but lost it because the trebles was too small. Anyway here is what the lure looks like. Its made by yamashita/Maria . I want to know specfically what this lure is designed for. It actually looks like a popper but the package says " sinking". The one i used is the red one, its about 2cm long.
