Mercer007
Hi, I've got some water coming from number 2 spark plug. It's the head gasket (i'm pretty sure). Has anyone changed one of these on a similar motor and is it hard to do? I'm a bit cheap to spend the $150 on the manual so am looking for a few clues as to weather i should attempt this myself. I'm convinced it just a few bolts and plaining the block, install the gasket etc, but would like some info from past experiences.... a boat
Hi, your engine does not have a cylinder head and the cover is just a water jacket cover and the domes of the block could also be corroded allowing water to leak. IF all goes according to plan, the cover should come easily and clean up of the gasket surfaces, a new gasket with sealant area the outside and plug area and you will be good to go. BUT, on an engine of that age it rarely goes according to plan with broken screws, corrosion and the like and unless all the screws easily come undone you will need oxy or you will be in for big dollars to get right again. I would not mind betting if and whent he cover comes off the domes will be not in the best shape. Cheers, Huey.

Do you know where I can get some more covers for the motor. I've heard that the gaskets are easy to source but they didn't make the covers after market??? I'm desperate and the motor is apart. Give me a PM or call me on 0448 851 346 if you can give me a few leads. I will try to source some tomorrow. Cheers Peter
