nautica
H i well the good news is ill be getting my boat back in 1 week and i have been doing a load of reading about soft plastic fishing . I have a great flathead spot but have only ever used fresh squid or slimy fillets the only problem is the depth ranges from 10 to 15 meters .So is it possible to use soft plastics in this depth for flathead or would it be a waste of time and money ???? also whats plastics ond jigg heads ?? cheers
Day's Fishin
Hi Nautica, I have used Squidgy fish black and gold with a 12gm head in 10m of water and did fairly well on flathead. Depending on conditions its like any other type of bait, as long as it hits the bottom and you can bounce it you will catch Flathead if their there. bassboy888
there a few magazine articles of late that specifically talk about this. so go down to your local news agency cause they will give you an idea of how to go about it. but in that depth you could also try blades, depending on how snaggy it is. but plastics at that depth will work. Any paddle tail ones or curl tail are good in bigger sizes at they give off alot of movement.
andrew399
I would be giving blades a go at that depth. You can still use sp's though, try some of the 5in gulp jerk shads with a 9-12gram jig head depending on current etc. Any of the larger wrigglers or paddle tails will also be good but expect to use a slightly heavier head for them as they have more resistence in the water. Just experiment with jig heads until you find one that keeps you in touch with the bottom

robeebee
as long as you can feel you have hit bottom, the weight of jighead is fine choice of plastic is yours try a gulp turtleback worm in pumpkinseed I have caught a few good flattie's on them
