Coffs Harbour

Gday Raiders.

Went up coffs for a fish with the girlfriends dad, keen to try out my new daiwa tierra soft plastics rod an reel.

had a bottom bash first and came across a patch of trag and bagged out on them pretty quick. when they are on the bite theyll eat pretty much anything you put infront of them.

but as soon as you drop one its game over . and the school will scatter :ranting2:

we were fishing about 70metres and thought id chuck the soft plastics out for a little play. 20pnd braid and 20pnd leader. I put on a 7 inch gulp nuke chicken and 3rd cast i felt the line go heavy, then zzzzzzzzzzz . 5 or 6 huge runs later up comes one ugly coffs snapper.

we then headed out to about 100 metres of water after a bar cod. i had some arrow squid i caught last week in the hacking

frozen so i took them up and put them on whole. first drop a big hit but i couldnt put a pin in it , i let some more line out and he came back for a second go. it had a few good runs but was mainly a heavy lump of a fish to bring up out of 100 metres , the bar cod went 5 kgs and the snapper just over 6.

The fishing up there is unreal and a nice place to go for a weekend. alot of the roadworks on the drive up are finished and its about 6 hrs from sydney now if you get a good run. just watch out for the police hiding in the bushes!! reccommend getting up there if you can and getting amongst it !!

G/day Morgs,

Your dead right about a nice part of the world,I fish about 60 k's south.

You really need a mate that can fish, when your into trag, once you drop a couple, they

are certainly gone, the only way to keep them there is make sure one always has bait on

bottom, don't both come up together if you are dropping any.

Anyway nice catch, that snapper had a head like he came from whyalla.

Well done,I know you will certainly be back.

Cheers Rick.

P.S. If poddy Trapper sees this thread,he will be up next week.
