Hey guys im thinking of respooling to a new braid as spring is coming. Im using this braid to cast at jetties. it is used for soft plastics and small metal lures such as 3g metal lure, pencils and squid jigs.

braid in mind are the spiderwire 6lb or 8lb ultra cast or ultra cast invis.

I was just wondering if the braid is fused or non fused braid. and any feedback on these braids are appreciated.

thank you

Spiderwire is a fused braid like fireline...

Are they better or similar to fireline in casting and performance?

P.s i heard non fused braid cast further than fused. Any recommandation on non fused braid?

I prefer fireline to spiderwire, but it doesn't really matter because they're both made by the same company I think. As for the fused vs non-fused, it depends on a number of factors. If you've got a good reel that has braid friendly line handling properties (stradic and up for shimano and whatever that equates to in other brands) then the non-fused will cast better and further because it's more limp and has less memory. However, if you have a reel that's a bit on the cheaper side, or are using very fine braid (like 4lb) then using a fused braid can actually be beneficial because the extra stiffness allows the braid to be laid on the reel better and means it's less likely to throw off loops when you cast. At the other end, if you're using heavy braid (20lb and up) it's almost always better to go for the non-fused braid (that is if your reel can handle it...) because the stiffness of the fused braid will really become apparent at the higher breaking strains.

So if you have a good reel and are going for 6-8lb braid then I'd go for a non-fused braid. If you're reel is a bit on the cheaper side then definitely a fused.
