Bearings

I bought an app the other day for the iphone.

http://www.flytomap.com/ftm/index.aspx

If it actually worked I think its a decent solution in the meantime. The ccmpass don't work all the time.

But what I really want is to enter spots in the system.

For example,

Box Head:

Latitude: -33 32.549

Longitude: 151 20.420

I have two questions, why is there a minus infront of LATITUDE?

Second, when I go to enter my bearing on the app, i can only inser two numbers for Latitude ie. XX.XX.XX

As you can see, for box head there are three digits on the end '549'.

Will that '9' make a difference? Should it have an extra digit there?

Any help appreciated, thanks :)

Oh BTW I was so angry last night I deleted the app lol, so I can't show you screen shots.

Its a minus figure because we are southern hemisphere latitude, northern being a positive number. Equally a negative longitude is a location west of the prime meridian

With the numbers your Box Head numbers are in decimal format and the software wants degrees/mintues/seconds which really only affect's the last numbers.

Hence .549 is actually 32.94 secs (60 secs x .549) which you would make 33 for your app. eg -33 32 33

I'll let you try the longitude so you can see how it works.

Run the app again and see where it takes you.
